Philip Licht is the founding Executive Director of Set Free Alaska, where he leads more than 120 employees helping thousands of Alaskans find hope and freedom from addiction and mental health challenges.
He has served on numerous local and statewide boards, including the Mat-Su Health Foundation, Recover Alaska, Thrive Mat-Su, and the Governor’s Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Philip is an ordained pastor, earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova, and completed Stanford Graduate School of Business’s Executive LEAD program.
Philip believes our future depends on preserving what makes our community special while preparing wisely for continued growth. He brings proven leadership, fiscal conservative values, compassion for people, and a firm belief that government must be responsible with taxpayers’ money and accountable to the people it serves.
Philip’s roots in Mat-Su run deep. His great-grandparents, Max and Dorothy Sherrod, arrived in Matanuska in 1935. Their legacy of hard work, faith, and service helped shape his commitment to strong families, personal responsibility, caring for neighbors, and giving back to the community we call home.
Philip and his wife have five children and are proud Army parents, with four children still attending Valley schools.

“Having served with Philip on both the Mat-Su Health Foundation and Church on the Rock boards, as well as having known Philip in my capacity as a local pastor, I can say without reservation that he is not only qualified for service in government, but he is exactly what we need in government in Alaska!”

“I have known Philip Licht for over 20 years as both a mentor and a friend. He is a man of great integrity and his impact on Alaska will be left for generations.”
